Previous Positions
Outline: I have held a Professor position since my first appointment in 1990 at University of Sarajevo. Since 1991 I have also held a research engineer position at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. In 1994, I moved to France with the UTC Professor appointment at University of Technology of Compiègne. In 1999, I have been appointed Full Professor at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Cachan, one of the French elite schools (“Grandes Ecoles”). In 2009, I have been promoted to Distinguished Professor (‘Classe Exceptionnelle’, the highest honors in French system of higher education). Since 2014, I hold Chair for Computational Mechanics at UTC (created to strengthen innovation capacity of UTC in collaboration with other founding members of
Sorbonne Universities).
My career has developed in four different countries (France, USA, Switzerland and ex-Yugoslavia):
